Ford Ranger Pickup Spotted In India: What It Offers
The upcoming Ford Ranger shares a familial resemblance with the upcoming Ford Endeavour, particularly in the front fascia. Both models sport a bold front grille with a horizontal bar integrating the Ford badge, accentuated by squarish headlights featuring C-shaped LED DRLs. However, the Ranger carves its own path with a new, beefier front bumper that incorporates more muscular sculpted elements, hinting at its off-road prowess.
On the sides, the doors appear identical, reflecting a shared platform. The key differentiation emerges at the rear. The Ranger boasts a unique tailgate design displaying the "Ranger" name in big impressions, while the wheel arches are slightly more pronounced to accommodate larger tires. Additionally, integrated steps on either side of the bumper enhance access to the truck bed, a feature likely appreciated by both on- and off-road enthusiasts.
Interior And Features
The Ranger's cabin mirrors the Everest's functionality. A central touchscreen dominates the dash, surrounded by vertical vents and climate control buttons. The all-black theme and use of hardwearing materials emphasize a clean, rugged feel. Creature comforts include ambient lighting, ventilated front seats, a digital instrument cluster, auto AC, wireless charging, and Ford Pass connectivity.
Powertrain Options
The Ranger offers a selection of diesel powertrains shared with the Endeavour. The lineup starts with a 2.0-liter, single-turbo four-cylinder engine generating 170hp. For those seeking more muscle, a bi-turbo version of the same 2.0-liter engine ups the ante to 206hp. Sitting at the peak of the range is a potent 3.0-liter V6 turbo-diesel churning out 246hp and a hefty 600 Nm of torque. All engines are paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The 2.0-liter variants offer the choice of both 4x2 and 4x4 drivetrains whereas the range-topping 3.0-liter V6 comes exclusively with a full-time 4x4 system, solidifying its off-road prowess.

Will It Come To India?
On the one hand, where the Ford Endeavour has been confirmed for India, there is no information of any scoop regarding the Ford Ranger as of now. The production of Ford vehicles will kick-off at a later stage and for early introduction, the models will be coming as CBU units. The Endeavour already has a market name and holds the ability to attract the masses. However, considering the niche market of pickups in the country, it is unlikely that we will see this in India anytime soon.
Verdict
The Pickup segment altough quite popular, is a niche selling product. Toyota Hilux and the Isuzu V-Cross are the 2 biggies that the buyers have as an option. Since the CBU units are more expensive in general, Ford Ranger is likely stay out of the Indian markets for the time being.
