- The updated model of the Citroen C3 will be offered with more features
- In addition to this, the C3 might get a 6-speed AT unit as well
- New feaures might be reserved for turbo petrol variant
Citroen launched the C3 in July this year and just a few months from its official launch, spy shots for the same have been spied. However, this time the story is different as the top-end version with more features (and possibly an automatic gearbox) has been spotted on Indian roads. Do remember, Citroen is also working on a 7 seater MPV based on the C3 hatchback.
The C3 rivals Tata Punch and Maruti Ignis and when compared to these micro-SUVs, the French model is less on features. Even the top-spec model that is on sale right now does not get alloy wheels, automatic climate control, power folding ORVMs, rear power windows, reverse camera, tachometer and more.
This spied model seems like the top-end model and gets several details like a reverse camera, rear power windows, alloy wheels, rear wiper and more. In addition to this, this spied model missed out on the cladding which is found on the doors and it looks quite neat. The extra bling which the current variant gets can be too much for some buyers. The tweaked design on the updated model just fits perfectly.

Along with the new features, the most interesting bit that the C3 will receive with the updated model is the inclusion of an automatic transmission. We expect a 6-speed AT unit which will be paired to the 1.2L turbocharged petrol engine.
Under the hood, things will remain unchanged for the C3. It is made available with two engine options - 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol and 1.2-litre, turbocharged petrol. The former generates as much as 80 bhp of power with a peak torque of 115 Nm. It gets mated to a 5-speed stick shift and the ARAI-certified mileage for the same sticks to 19.8 kmpl.

The more powerful, 1.2-litre, turbocharged petrol motor produces peak power and torque of 109 bhp and 190 Nm. It gets mated to a six-speed manual transmission and the ARAI-certified mileage for the same sticks to 19.4 kmpl. With the inclusion of an AT unit, we expect the mileage of the same to be dropped a little bit.
Safety features on the C3 include dual airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors, a high-speed alert system, front seat-belt reminder and more. Currently, the C3 is priced from Rs 5.88 lakh to Rs 9.15 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. With the updated model, we expect the prices to rise for the same.
Verdict
With the inclusion of an automatic gearbox and more features on board, Citroen C3 can be a really good choice to pick from the competition. In other news, the French carmaker is also considering the launch of CNG as well as the EV version as well.
