Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 has been spied on yet again but this time by us (see video here). While we were in Chennai, we came across this beautiful-looking test bike. It appears to be that Shotgun will be a feature-packed bike that might be placed above the Super Meteor 650. While its launch timeline is still not clear, read all of the details we know about it below.

Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 - How Different Than Its Siblings?
Clearly visible in the spy shots, the Shotgun will be based on the Super Meteor 650 itself. While the chassis and parts look similar, there're major changes to its design. The overall riding position is way different as the handlebar is all new and the footpegs are set at center. This gives a city-friendly riding position as it appears. However, the handlebar is short and upright hinting towards agile handling dynamics.
Apart from it, the LED headlight which is taken from the Super Meteor, has a unique cowl fitted onto it. This cowl makes for a very different front design appeal. Also, the test bike has LED indicators, touring mirrors, and switchgear similar to the current Interceptor 650. Look closely, and it is visible that the Shotgun will also get adjustable levers. Other design details include a sculpted fuel tank similar to the Interceptor, split seats, LED taillight & a low-slung cruiser-like overall outlook.
Hardware-wise, it gets USD front suspension, preload adjustable gas-charged rear shockers, new design alloy wheels, bigger disc brakes (probably the same as on the Super Meteor 650), & a twin exhaust can setup as well. RE will keep it rich in terms of features. We spotted a twin-pod instrument console. While the bigger pod looks similar to the Super Meteor, the smaller pod appears to be the tripper navigation console. RE might also revise the design and layout of this console when the bike makes it to production.
Underneath the sculpted fuel tank sat the same 648cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled engine which is also seen on the rest of the 650cc siblings. All of the powertrain and mechanicals have been painted in matte black. Also, the chassis parts are done with a similar rubber paint as we see on the Super Meteor. This hints that the overall quality of it'll be very premium. While this engine will remain the same in terms of power & torque output, the ECU will be re-tuned on it to adjust with the dimensional and weight changes.
Verdict
Royal Enfield have numerous bikes aligned to debut in the forthcoming future. The Shotgun 650 will be one of them. But, RE is concentrating on the Himalayan 450 currently as its launch timeline is nearing. We expect that the Shotgun 650 will debut by the mid of 2024 globally. It'll be priced in the similar range of the Super Meteor and there'll be multiple accessories available as well for it. Tell us what you think about the Shotgun 650 in the comments.
