With the rising fuel prices, electric seems to be the alternative. But with the increased ownership costs initially, that also seems to be far from reality. However, there is another alternative and that is Compressed Natural Gas or CNG. It is widely popular in popular cities and just recently, the CNG version of the Ford Aspire has been spotted.
Before we go any further and explain to you all the details related to the Ford Aspire CNG version, make sure you are a member of our exclusive 91Wheels Telegram group where we bring you all the latest updates related to the Indian Automotive Industry.
Ford Aspire is a fantastic subcompact sedan, however, it is not doing well in terms of sales. The petrol users are inclined towards its competition Maruti Dzire and Honda Amaze mostly and the diesel buyers are limited because of the new rules and regulations.

So to bring in a newer aspect, the Aspire CNG makes sense and the same has been tested on Indian roads. The recent image with the CNG kit was clicked near its manufacturing plant based in Chennai. It should be noted that Aspire CNG was earlier available, however, it was discontinued when the new BS6 norms kicked in.
The upcoming CNG kit of the Aspire will be paired with a similar 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine. This unit delivers 95 bhp with a peak torque of 119 Nm. We expect for the CNG version, the power will be slightly tamed down and the efficiency will increase. This engine will be paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

In terms of competition, only the Hyundai Aura comes with factory fitted CNG kit for the private fleet. Other carmakers like Maruti and Tata have plans to bring in CNG as an alternative fuel to their cars. In terms of pricing, the CNG version of Aspire will command a premium of Rs 50,000 or more than the petrol counterparts.
