Skoda Kylaq: The Camouflage
While obviously most of the car is still wearing a camouflage, there are some interesting details that have emerged. First, the camouflage itself; it aims to capture India's cultural diversity and the unity of various dialects spoken across our country, by featuring letters and elements of various Indian languages.
Wait a second, who's that standing with the car? That's Rob from the show M.A.D (ring any bells, 90s kids?), who has designed the camouflage of the Kylaq.
Skoda Kylaq: A Closer Look!
A closer look will reveal some quite interesting bits about the Kylaq. For exmaple, this will be the first Skoda to implement the new 'Modern Solids' design language, featuring a new grille. Unlike most Skoda cars, the Kylaq is going to feature a split-headlamp setup, with a DRL strip placed above the main headlight. We can expect projectors to be offered as standard across most variants, if not all.
The teaser also shows a closer look at the profile of the car, and it is expected to be what most Skoda cars look like; a smooth design devoid of any dramatic shapes, with an understated look. The Kylaq also seems to feature 17-inch wheels with a new set of alloys. Like most cars in the compact SUV segment, the Kylaq also features pull-type door handles, and roof-rails are likely to be standard on the higher variants.

There isn't much that can be said about the rear at the moment, except for the squarish-shaped tail lights. In fact, from the picture above, one might be reminded of the Fabia.
Based on spy shots, the Kylaq is expected to feature the same 10.25-inch touch screen infotainment system, with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Skoda is also highly likely to introduce an ADAS suite, along with a 360-degree camera, and possibly a panoramic sunroof as well. These features could also make their way onto the Kushaq and the Slavia later on.
Under the hood, the Kylaq is set to receive the smaller 1.0-litre TSI powertrain, paired to a 6-speed manual and a torque-converter automatic. Skoda is also likely to tune the chassis of the Kylaq to offer more driving thrills than its competitors in the segment.
Verdict
The Kylaq is set to be Skoda's most affordable product in the Indian lineup. Aimed at penetrating deeper into the Indian market, Skoda knows pricing will be key to capitalize on volumes.
