Hero Xoom 160: Hero MotoCorp, India's biggest two-wheeler maker seems to be working on a 160cc version of the Xoom scooter. Once launched, the upcoming Xoom 160 will go against the Yamaha Aerox 160. The introduction is a part of the brand's strategy to come up with two-wheelers with larger engine capacity. The manufacturer currently has motorcycles bigger bikes such as Mavrick 440 and the upcoming Hero Xtreme 250R and XMR 250. Now, an ADV version of Xoom with a 160cc powerhouse is also in the pipeline. The Hero Xoom 160 will enter into a segment that is at a very nascent stage in our market. It will be among the few ADV-style scooters available in our market. However, Indian buyers don't have any inclination towards ADV scooters, but this could be a good addition to the company's portfolio considering the dynamics of our market.
Key Highlights of the Xoom 160
The recent spy shots of the Xoom 160 have revealed some of its key design elements. These include twin-LED headlamps with LED DRLs, an ADV-style beak-shaped mudguard, a large windscreen, halogen turn indicators and solid muscular design language. At the rear, there are grab rails on each side. Other ADV elements include an upswept exhaust and dual-purpose tyres.
Hero Xoom 160: Engine and Hardware
As far as. the power is concerned, the bigger Xoom will be powered by a 160cc, liquid-cooled engine which is capable of making 14 bhp. In terms of hardware, it will be equipped with a telescopic front forks and dual rear shock absorbers. Braking duties are handled by disc brakes at both ends, supplemented by single-channel ABS. As for the price, we can expect the new Xoom to come at around Rs. 1.20 lakh (ex-showroom).
