Hero MotoCorp was the first mass-market two-wheeler manufacturer in India to launch a dual-purpose motorcycle. The company launched the Hero Impulse 150 in India in the year 2011. However, back then, the ADVs were not very popular in the country and it failed to lure the buyers. But now, the ADVs are in demand and we have a lot of them in the affordable price range too. Currently, the most affordable dual-purpose motorcycle on sale in India is the Hero Xpulse 200 and now it seems that soon we will see some more adventure motorcycles from the house of Hero MotoCorp. The company has recently trademarked the Hero XTEC in India and here we have for you all the details about it.
As you can see in the above image, the company has recently trademarked the Hero XTEC in India. The trademark application was filed in October this year. As this is an intellectual property, the application for the trademark was filed to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry's Controller General of Patents Design & Trademarks. The new trademark has been accepted by the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion and this means that soon we can see a new motorcycle from Hero MotoCorp that might be called Hero XTEC. But, first of all, let us speculate what this new motorcycle can be.

If you remember, in February this year, Hero MotoCorp organised a big fat event called the Hero World 2020. The Hero World 2020 was organized at the company's Centre of Innovation and Technology (CIT) facility located in the pink city Jaipur. There, the company showcased a prototype version of an all-new upcoming adventure motorcycle. While no major details about that upcoming ADV is known to us. However, the company did reveal that the prototype shown at the event will turn into a single-cylinder adventure motorcycle in its production avatar with a 300cc+ liquid cooled engine and high-end hardware components. So, we believe the Hero XTEC might be the name of the production version of the 300cc+ adventure motorcycle.
However, as per some media reports, the company might target the youths with this upcoming Hero XTEC and so it might be a 160cc adventure bike that will sit below the Xpulse 200 in the company's Indian portfolio. If the upcoming Hero XTEC will be a 160cc ADV, it will borrow the engine and some hardware bits from the Xtreme 160R but there will be a lot of changes made to match its ADV characteristics. For instance, it will then have long-travel suspension, spoke wheels, an upswept exhaust, etc. Also, most importantly it will then get the engine in a different state of tune to suit its adventure motorcycle purpose. However, these are all our speculations and whatever the Hero XTEC will be, we will get to know in the coming months.
