The 7-seater segment is now booming as we have surplus SUVs like MG Hector Plus, Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV500 and hey, the upcoming Alcazar. Fast forward to the festive season, we will have an all-new XUV700. So, several options, right? Well, the Hyundai Alcazar launch is in two days that is June 18 and in this article, we sort your mind that should you wait for the SUV or go for its alternatives!
Hyundai Alcazar - Smooth Petrol Engine, Good Cabin Experience, Feature-Loaded To The Brim, Better Aftersales and Service Connectivity
We bring the benefits of the Alcazar first. Now, we know, the diesel engine isn't worth talking about that is why we bring the 2.0L petrol. This unit is the same as Tucson and Elantra but now makes more power at 157 bhp with 192 Nm of peak torque. Both 6-speed MT and 6-speed AT will be on the offer.

Feature-wise, the Alcazar has an edge as it provides a 10.25-inch digital display cluster, blind view monitor, 2nd-row wireless charging, front row seatback table, bose premium sound system and air purifier with AQI display. These all are first-in-segment features. Also, Hyundai as a brand is the most trusted after Maruti Suzuki and also brings better connectivity and aftersales experience.
MG Hector Plus - Buy for the value for money buyback plans and features at a minimal price
MG marked its entry with the Hector in India followed by ZS EV and now we have the Hector Plus. The SUV distinguishes itself from the regular 5-seat Hector but packs in the same petrol and diesel engine option. The price of MG Hector Plus starts from 13.63 lakh to Rs 19.81 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. The only thing that draws out the user attention is no manual buttons to control the basic climate control.
Tata Safari - Buy for the diesel automatic combo
Tata Safari offers a 2.0L FCA sourced diesel that makes 170 PS with 350 Nm of peak torque. Paired with a 6-speed auto then it is a gem to drive in the city as well as the highways. Despite the huge bulky size, the steering response is adequate and you feel confident at higher speeds. Other than that, you get a roomier cabin, boss seat and well, features are just adequate. We wouldn't say it is the best. Just something that will keep you happy. You do not get a petrol engine and that is a drawback for some buyers who do not have a higher running.

Mahindra XUV500 - Buy for the, well, skip it and wait for the XUV700
Like the Ford Ecosport is known as the no-nonsense SUV in the compact SUV department, the XUV500 too is the same in its segment. However, this one is in the market for too long and is now starting to show its age. The 2.2L mHawk is the most reliable but the suspension starts to show its age early. Our advice is to wait for the upcoming XUV700. That will be a correct buy and will come with loads of features, possibly a 4WD too.
