- Tata needs a rival to the Creta / Grand Vitara
- 'Blackbird' might not exist afterall
- CURVV shown at Auto Expo, launch in 2024
Tata Blackbird. This is one model that has been the center of curiosity for the past one year. High search volumes aside, a lot of us wanted to know more about this upcoming mid-size SUV from Tata Motors. While we thought some light would be thrown on the Blackbird at the 2023 Auto Expo, nothing of this sort happened. Instead, Tata Motors once again showcased the CURVV SUV concept. And it makes us believe that this indeed is the Creta rival from Tata. So yes, while the Blackbird might not be a reality, the CURVV surely is!
The Curvv SUV will end up getting three powertrains - EV, petrol and diesel. As this is all-new vehicle from the ground up, the platform would have been engineered to accommodate the EV motor and battery pack properly. This in turn will ensure class leading space on the inside. While the petrol and diesel versions could be priced in the Rs 10-16 lakh bracket, the EV model would be close to Rs 20 lakh, thereby giving stiff competition to the top models of XUV400 and Nexon EV Max.
Tata Motors currently has the Nexon in the sub 4m compact SUV space and both Harrier and Safari in the full size SUV space. This has created a gap and void and this is where the CURVV will fit in. Expect class leading safety and a host of features including 6 Airbags, panoramic sunroof, full digi console, powered and ventilated seats, electronic park brake etc. Do have a look at this upcoming SUVs video from the Auto Expo
