The Kia Sonet became the third product to be launched in the brand's portfolio and is offered with three different engine options. The car, with its aggressive and bold design language impressed each one of at the time of its global unveil at the Auto Expo 2020. Sonet is priced from Rs 6.71 lakh (ex-showroom) as a part of the introductory scheme and gets a number of powertrain options. However, to everyone's surprise, Kia did not over a manual gearbox with the 1.0-L turbocharged petrol engine at the time of the launch. As per the recent reports that featured online, the management is now planning to launch the Kia Sonet 1.0-L Petrol Turbo Manual soon if market demand necessitates it. Unlike the Hyundai Venue, the Kia Sonet 1.0-L turbo variant is available only with a 6-speed iMT or a 7-speed DCT gearbox. The clutchless iMT gearbox is one of the most advanced gearboxes that we have in the market right now. At present, the most affordable Sonet 1.0 Turbo variant is the HTK+ iMT variant that is priced from Rs 9.49 lakh. On the other hand, the entry-level turbo iMT variant of the Venue, which is the SX, is priced at Rs 10 lakh while the lower-spec Venue 1.0L Turbo S with 6-speed manual gearbox is priced at Rs 8.51 lakh only (ex-showroom). We can expect the upcoming Kia Sonet 1.0-L Petrol Turbo Manual variant to be priced at around Rs 20,000 less than the equivalent iMT model.

As per Mr Manohar Bhat, Head of Sales and Marketing, Kia Motors India, the iMT gearbox offers additional convenience while driving and thus offered this gearbox with the turbo model for the enthusiasts. He also confirmed that the brand will surely introduce a Kia Sonet 1.0-L Petrol Turbo Manual variant in future if the market demand for this particular variant goes up.
