Kia Sonet is one of the top-selling compact SUVs in the Indian market right now and it offers a plethora of features. It is the only C-SUV that gets a 6-speed diesel automatic as an option along with some other first-in-segment features. The South Korean carmaker is known for the addition and deletion of variants/features in its models and the latest update is the inclusion of six airbags as a standard fitment right from the base variant of Sonet just like the Kia Carens.
Kia Carens was launched a few days ago and it literally grabbed a lot of eyeballs as well as threw the rivals like Maruti Ertiga and XL6 out of the park. Right from the base variant, Carens is equipped with six airbags, electronic stability control, vehicle stability management, brake assist, hill-start assist control, downhill brake control, all-wheel disc brakes, highline tyre pressure monitoring system, ABS with EBD and rear parking sensors as standard.
Another edition that the Sonet might get is an all-new blue colour scheme that is also seen in the Carens. Kia Sonet currently comes in eight monotone and three dual-tone colour options. The current Intelligency Blue available in Kia Sonet will soon be replaced with Imperial Blue from the Carens.

Mechanically, Kia Sonet is powered by three engine options - 1.0L turbo petrol, 1.2L non-turbo petrol and 1.5L diesel unit. The turbo petrol is the most powerful of the lot that generates 118 bhp of power with 172 Nm of peak torque while the 1.2L naturally aspirated motor makes 82 bhp with 115 Nm of maximum torque. The oil burner produces 99 bhp and a healthy torque of 240 Nm. However, with the 6-speed AT, this 1.5L makes 113 bhp of power and 250 Nm of peak torque.
In other news, Kia discontinued the HTK+ diesel automatic of the Seltos and the base variant Premium of the Carnival. According to the reports on the internet, Kia might introduce an iMT gearbox in the Seltos paired to the 1.5L diesel. This diesel engine is the same as found in the Hyundai Creta.
