At the Independence Day event in Cape Town, South Africa, Mahindra revealed its global SUV roadmap for the future. While a lot was said and showcased, there were few concrete updates about the incoming vehicles. And one of them was the Mahindra Bolero Electric. Yes, the iconic SUV that India loves, is getting electrified for the future along with all the existing SUVs in the brand's catalog.
And not just this, Mahindra has a brand new logo for its electric line-up to make the complete shift. Now, let's delve into more details.
Mahindra Bolero Electric, Scorpio Electric, And More SUV's Incoming
At the event, the brand conveyed that all the existing SUVs will move into their electric version in the future. However, the platform is shifting to the new INGLO platform for accommodating the necessary updates. That also means that some featured elements will bid adieu to adopt the electric incarnation. Meanwhile, this new EV range is dubbed by adding the '.e' suffix to the current titles like Mahindra Bolero.e, Scorpio.e, and Thar.e.
But wait, there's more! All these and the incipient born-electric BE range apart from the new platform, will have a nascent identification. A new electric range logo! Single And Dual Motor Set-Up: Powertrain Sourcing From Volkswagen And Valeo
The upcoming electric versions of Thar, Scorpio, and Bolero could offer various powertrain options, featuring both single and dual-motor setups. These electric powertrains are set to be supplied by Volkswagen and Valeo. Unveiled at an ongoing global conference in South Africa, the three models will present a choice of three distinct powertrain options. From Volkswagen's front motor setup, users can expect 110 PS of power and 135 Nm of torque. The rear motor setup, also sourced from Volkswagen, will provide a more robust 285 PS and 535 Nm.
Meanwhile, Valeo's rear motor setup will deliver 231 PS and 380 Nm. This diverse range of powertrain choices will allow customers to tailor their electrified SUVs to their preferences. Apart from these details, other key details alike the price, battery packs, and range remain under seal.
Mahindra Electric SUVs: Dawn Of The New Logo
For the new electric SUVs based on the INGLO platform moving forward, the sharp twin peak logo goes fluidic. This will be the testament to the new platform EVs from the brand, The XUV400, currently coming with the bronze Twin Peak logo will be donning this when shifted to the new platform as the development progresses.
