Mahindra and Mahindra became the first manufacturer in India to offer electric vehicles officially to the private car owners. Over the years, the EVs are slowly gaining popularity. Mahindra will showcase a brand-new Funster EV concept at the 2020 Auto Expo. The all-new car will make its global debut at the event. The all-new Funster EV will offer a futuristic design and will be based on the platform that will underpin the upcoming Mahindra XUV500.
The teaser image shows that the Funster concept will indicate the design language that will be followed by the upcoming Mahindra XUV500. It will offer a very muscular front-end with an aggressive bumper design. Also, the sides of the vehicle seem to have strong creases that will ensure that it gets all the attention on the roads. Since, it is an EV, there are no air dam or grille on it.
We can spot the futuristic looking set-up of triple LED headlamps on each side of the grille. The inverted L-shaped Daytime Running Lamps add a unique identity to the vehicle. It looks similar to the lamps of the XUV300.
The Funster will be launched as a 5-seater SUV in the concept form but the production version of the car may offer a 7-seat option. It should be noted that all-new Mahindra XUV500 will be launched in the Indian market in 2021 and the car is also expected to be sold through the Ford dealerships. However, the Ford version of the car will look different and there will be enough differentiating design cues.
Mahindra will showcase the Funster as a high performance electric SUV. It will get powered by a 313 PS generating electric motor, which translates into about 230 kW. It is expected to do 0-100 km/h in just 5 seconds, which is extremely fast. The concept version of the Funster will get a 60 kWh battery pack and it will get facilities like fast charging.
Mahindra will also launch the all-new XUV30 EV, eKUV and host of other products at the Auto Expo.
