- Read more details below
After dominating the off-roader segment, Mahindra Thar is full-throttling towards a launch in 2024 with 2 extra doors. While the Thar 3-door is an excellent package, the extra 2-door is to make it a family-friendly proposition. With spotting one after the other, it looks like the SUV is ready for launch and can be expected to hit the showrooms next year.
But first, let's look at the spy images that we have where the vehicle can be seen parked on the highway
Mahindra Thar 5-Door Spied Parked At Roadside
The spy images provide a glimpse of a subtly altered design for the front grille in the 5-door Thar. The front bumper has been reprofiled to accommodate halogen fog lamps. Notably, the grille is expected to be accompanied by projector LED headlamps, a departure from the traditional bulb units seen in the 3-door Thar. While the overall boxy profile remains unchanged, the length and wheelbase appear to be extended in the 5-door variant, distinguishing it from the current Thar model.

In addition to the design changes in the front, the 5-door Thar is anticipated to feature distinct alloy wheels. Previous spy images have already unveiled a reworked rear profile, showcasing a new set of taillamps.
Major Overhaul On The Insides Too!
The 5-door Mahindra Thar will likely offer a similar set of features as its smaller counterpart. This encompasses a touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, however, this is getting bigger than before. Roof-mounted speakers, a digital drivers display, and steering-mounted controls are some more features to be carried over. A notable and biggest addition is a single-pane electric sunroof. On the safety front, expect features like traction control, six airbags, a tyre pressure monitoring system, and electronic stability control.
Powertrain
The 5-door Mahindra Thar is set to retain the same engine options as its three-door counterpart, featuring a 2.0-litre mStallion turbo petrol unit and a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel unit. However, their state of tune is likely to differ from the 3-door Thar. Both engine options will include a 4״ drivetrain with a low-range transfer case as standard, emphasizing the off-road capabilities synonymous with the Thar model
