India's Largest Utility Vehicle maker, Mahindra and Mahindra, is soon going to launch the 2020 Mahindra XUV 500 BS6. The XUV 500 is one of the most plusher-looking cars in its category and Mahindra keeps updating it sporadically. And now Mahindra has updated their official website revealing the details about the BS6-iteration of the XUV 500.

The 2020 Mahindra XUV 500 BS6 doesn't get any substantial cosmetic upgrades or feature add-ons but it gets refreshed mechanicals to comply with the new stringent BS6 emission norms. The BS6-compliant XUV 500 will be powered by a 2.2-litre, sixth-generation electronically controlled Variable Geometry Turbocharger (eVGT), mHawk diesel engine. This oil-burner generates 154 bhp at 3,750 RPM and 360 Nm of peak torque between 1,750-2,800 RPM. It comes mated to either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic unit.
Mahindra XUV 500 BS6 does lose out some features while transitioning from BS4 to BS6. For starters, the BS4-compliant XUV 500 used to get a petrol engine which has now been ditched out and none of the variants of the XUV 500 will now be offered with AWD (all-wheel-drive) technology (which is kind of sad). The carmaker has also discontinued the recently launched entry-level W3 variant.
The BS6-compliant Mahindra XUV 500 will be offered in a total of seven variants, which include - W5, W7, W9, W11(O), W7 AT, W9 AT and W11(O) AT. Depending on the variant, the BS6-compliant XUV500 will offer electric sunroof, touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, automatic climate control, premium leather upholstery, etc. It also gets modern safety features such as up to 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP with rollover mitigation and more.

Mahindras website currently states that due to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak, production of vehicles has been delayed and BS6 vehicles arent available at the moment. The BS4 Mahindra XUV 500 was priced between Rs. 12.37 lakhs - Rs. 18.69 lakhs, Ex-showroom Delhi and expect the BS6 version to charge a slight premium over the current model.
