One of the safest and underrated compact SUVs from Mahindra, XUV300 has now become more affordable than before. Mahindra has decreased the XUV300 prices by Rs 1 lakh [on-road] for some variants and we wonder if it is the upcoming SUV, Kia Sonet impact.
Mahindra XUV300 now starts from Rs 7.97 lakh and goes up to Rs 11.75 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. The table below shows the old as well as new pricing along with the total price difference.
Variants (Petrol) | New Price | Old Price | Price Difference |
W4 | Rs 7.95 lakh | Rs 8.30 lakh | Rs 35,000 |
W6 | Rs 8.98 lakh | Rs 9.15 lakh | Rs 17,000 |
W8 | Rs 9.99 lakh | Rs 10.60 lakh | Rs 70,000 |
W8(O) | Rs 10.97 lakh | Rs 11.84 lakh | Rs 87,000 |

As you can see from the table above, it is the W8(O) variant in its petrol engine which gets the most discount of Rs 87,000. Rest follow the basic discount right from Rs 35,000 till Rs 70,000 for the W8 Petrol. The 1.2L petrol motor makes as much as 109 bhp with 200 Nm of peak torque. Do note, as the W8 Petrol is now under Rs 10 lakh, it enjoys lower RTO charges in some cities like Delhi, thus bringing down the on-road price by a lakh.
Variants (Diesel) | New Price | Old Price | Price Difference |
W4 | Rs 8.70 lakh | Rs 8.69 lakh | Rs 1,000 Increased |
W6 | Rs 9.70 lakh | Rs 9.50 lakh | Rs 20,000 Increased |
W8 | Rs 10.75 lakh | Rs 10.95 lakh | Rs 20,000 |
W8(O) | Rs 11.75 lakh | Rs 12.14 lakh | Rs 39,000 |
Like petrol, the W8(O) in its diesel form only gets a slight decrease of Rs 39,000 in pricing. The second to top W8 gets a marginal cut of Rs 20,000 while the popular W6 variant gets an increase of Rs 20,000. Talk about price-cutting, eh?
Under the hood, this 1.5L diesel is a charm. It makes 115 bhp with a whopping 300 Nm of peak torque. That's the highest torque figure in its segment.

We believe that this price cut is majorly done because of the fierce competition by Hyundai Venue and upcoming Kia Sonet. The XUV300 was already the second to most expensive SUV of the lot and that's why accounted for poor sales. Hope this price deduction helps to climb up the sales chart for the SUV.
The W8 petrol turns out to be a charm as it's priced under Rs 10 lakh now thus availing all the benefits of the RTO and registration charges. As of now, there is nothing changed in the feature's list and XUV300 continues to come with 7-airbags, dual-zone climate control, all-disc brake, front parking sensors, electric sunroof and among others.
