Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. has launched its first electric SUV, the XUV400 Electric, priced between Rs 15.99 lakh and Rs 18.99 lakh (ex-showroom). It is available in two models: the XUV400 EC and the XUV400 EL. It is the introductory prices are applicable on the first 5,000 bookings for each of the two variants. Bookings for Mahindra's first electric SUV will begin on January 26, 2023, and it will be available in 34 locations in phase 1. Deliveries will commence in March 2023 for the XUV400 EL and over the Diwali holiday season for the XUV400 EC.

Mahindra XUV400 Electric Price & Variants
The newly launched XUV400 Electric is available in two variants namely XUV400 EC & XUV400 EL. The XUV400 EL powered by a 39.4 kWh battery and XUV400 EC powered by a 34.5 kWh battery, the eSUV will come in five exciting colour options Arctic Blue, Everest White, Galaxy Grey, Napoli Black and Infinity Blue with dual tone option of Satin Copper.

Mahindra XUV400 Electric Powertrain
The Mahindra XUV400 has the maximum power 110kW (150PS) and torque 310 Nm in its sector, and it is powered by two lithium-ion battery options with large capacities of 39.4 kWh and 34.5 kWh. The motor generates 310 Nm of immediate torque, allowing the eSUV to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 8.3 seconds, making it the fastest eSUV in its class.

The XUV400 has first-in-class multi-drive modes (Fun, Fast, and Fearless) with simultaneous steering, throttle, and regen adjustment. Its single-pedal drive mode, dubbed 'Lively mode,' provides a smooth and effortless driving experience in congested areas, and is a segment first feature.
According to Indian driving cycle norms, the XUV400 has a range of 456 kilometres with a 39.4 kWh battery and 375 kilometres with a 34.5 kWh battery (MIDC). Furthermore, the EV comes with an industry-leading dust and water-proof battery pack that fulfils IP67 specifications. This high-density battery pack is liquid-cooled to function well in Indian climates and provide optimum performance under a variety of situations.
Mahindra XUV400 Design & Features
The XUV400 is the first vehicle to receive the Electrifying Copper Twin Peak emblem. To appeal to a younger audience, the dynamics of the eSUV were given special consideration, and as a result, the XUV400 is enjoyable to drive. Several new design features, including the all-new front and back design, highlight the styling, with expertly made details like as the Satin Copper arrowhead inlays on the Aero Fascia and in the LED tail-lamps. The exclusive dual-tone body colour and projector headlamps are also available in the SUV.
It has a 7-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and the BlueSense Plus App offers 60-plus mobile app-based connected services, such as access to nearby charging points, Mahindra service stations, tracking vehicle location, and many more. The XUV400 is also future-proof, as it is set up to receive Over-the-Air software updates.

Since it is built on a five-star certified platform and has class-leading safety features, the XUV400 EV preserves all of the learnings from the XUV300 Global NCAP certification. The car has the greatest functional safety rating for an India-built EV, as determined by ISO criteria.
Verdict: Mahindra has launched the XUV400 Electric at a reasonable price; the company has kept its pricing competitive. The XUV400's main rival, the Tata Nexon EV, has a Rs 1 lakh lower starting price, although the top-spec variant is more expensive than the XUV400 electric. Tata Motors presently leads the electric SUV market, and the Mahindra XUV400 Electric will be a serious competitor.
