Mahindra has finally launched the XUV400 Electric as a true rival to the Nexon EV. Being the only electric SUV in the sub-20 lakh price segment till now, Nexon EV has enjoyed a competition-free run in the market. But, it seems now Mahindra is all set to challenge the Nexon EV with XUV400 Electric. This latest launch from the Indian SUV maker will give more choices & more options to buyers. Priced between Rs 15.99 lakhs to 18.99 lakhs (Ex-Showroom), the XUV400 does overlap with the prices of the Nexon EV range. The Nexon EV range starts at Rs 14.99 lakhs (Ex-Showroom) for the Prime variant and goes up to Rs 19.84 lakhs (Ex-Showroom) for the Max variant. Both SUVs are available in two different variants with two different battery sizes. While the Nexon EV has Prime and Max variants, the XUV400 gets EC and EL variants. Nexon EV vs XUV400: Powertrain
The Tata Nexon EV range has two different versions i.e. the Nexon EV Prime with an electric motor generating 129 PS power and 245 Nm torque, and the Nexon EV Max with an electric motor generating 143 PS power and 250 Nm torque. However, Mahindra has given the same electric motor on both EC & EL variants of the XUV400. The electric motor on both the variants of XUV400 produces 150 PS of power and 310 Nm of torque.

Verdict: The New Mahindra XUV400 and the Nexon EV, both are one of the safest sub-20 lakh electric SUVs in the Indian market. Both carry a 5-star safety rating from G-NCAP. However, it is the Nexon EV range, which offers more features. On the other hand, the XUV400 offers more power, more performance, more space, more range, and faster charging.
