Maruti Jimny 5-Door Launch Details
First thing first, the Jimny will come in the 5-door configuration. In fact, Maruti has stopped the international production of the 3-door model to accommodate the 5-door variant. Furthermore, it will embrace longer chassis and distinctive style cues. For example, its stance will be hiked due to bigger tyres and redone suspension. On the other hand, Mahindra Thar 5-Door is also anticipated to debut on the same day. However, no official confirmations have come from either of the brands.
Speaking of the design; the 5-door Jimny shall remain more or less the same as the global model. However, the addition of a second row will make it look bigger and better. We've already posted multiple stories on test mules of it being spied on in India. Going by them, the Jimny is expected to become one hot-seller in the market due to its design. Furthermore, the addition of the 4X4 system and the 1.5-lt K15B engine will make this deal even more mouthwatering.
In terms of features, we're expecting that it will get all the bells & whistles from its siblings like Grand Vitara. Hence, a bigger 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, panoramic sunroof, HUD, leather upholstery, &, etc are expected to be offered in select variants. Meanwhile, the presence of the second row means it might also get rear AC vents and USB charging ports.
Verdict
If launched on 11 January 2023, Jimny will become a showstopper for Maruti at the Indian Auto Expo. Additionally, the presence of the global footprint of the Jimny brand will make a stronger case for itself in India. Meanwhile, the rivals are also developing 5-door variants that are suspected to be launched in a similar timeframe. How strong are these rumors; only time will tell.
