Just like Mahindra, MG Motors India is also ready to set its benchmark in the industry with its recently launched compact SUV, Astor. The car was in the news for a couple of months but finally, it has been launched now. The compact SUV is the first car to introduce ADAS autonomous Level 2 technology, and apart from this several segment-first features. MG Astor vs Mahindra XUV700 Comparison - Design and Dimensions
XUV700 is based on Mahindra's latest global W601 platform. However, there is a possibility that the SUV might appeal a bit similar to XUV500 . XUV700 being an updated version of the brand, offers rugged styling with new designed elements such as clear-view LED Headlamps, arrow LED tail lights, LED fog lamps, smart door handles, 18-inch alloy wheels and an unmissable front grille. The road presence offered by XUV700 looks appealing and rugged due to the prominent changes in the design.
Let's take a look at the Astor that carries quite similar design language from its sibling, ZS EV. Astor comes with a redesigned front fascia that has a new grille design, full LED hawk-eye headlamps, sporty bumper, and the same 17-inch alloy wheels that of ZS EV. MG Astor is a feature-loaded car which will attract the public quite well. The car comes with electronic power steering with three steering modes, premium leather layering in the interiors, auto ac with PM 2.5 filter, rear defogger, keyless entry, and 10.1-inch infotainment system compatible with every smartphone device.
Not only this but the car also has front fog lamps with a cornering assist, 17-inch alloy wheels, electric parking brake with auto hold, personal AI assistant (segment-first), 7-inch digital cockpit, perforated leather seat upholstery, auto headlamps, speed assist system, dual-pane panoramic sunroof, rear-drive assist, RED brake callipers (front and rear), 360-degree camera view, six-way power-adjustable seats, rain-sensing wipers, blind-spot detection, lane change assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and the ADAS autonomous level 2 which is offered only in the top-end variant.
The most attractive feature offered by MG with its Astor is the i-Smart hub that enhances the in-cabin experience. It comes with 35+ Hinglish voice commands, weather forecast, digital key with bluetooth technology, in-built applications, interactive emojis including greetings and festival wishes, jokes, local and global news, ask anything: powered by wikipedia, and several other features.
Mahindra is offering segment-first features with this latest one. The XUV700 comes with a six-way electronically adjustable driver's seat, dual HD Superscreen which is a combination of infotainment screen and digital drivers display compatible with ADRENOX connected car technology, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility over Wi-Fi also, Alexa built-in integration, immersive 3D sound technology, driver drowsiness alert, intuitive drive modes, AdrenoX connect app, and intelligent cockpit.
XUV700 also offers a Luxury Pack with its top-end variants. Luxury pack includes one of the most innovative ADAS safety features that offer Adaptive Cruise Control, High Beam Assist, and Traffic Sign Recognition. Along with the ADAS pack, it comes with ESP, an electronic power brake and auto hold, a Front collision warning, and seven airbags.
MG Astor vs Mahindra XUV700 Comparison - Specifications
The MG Astor has gone on sale in two engine variants - 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol that belts out a maximum of 110PS and 144Nm. The other option on offer is that of a 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol unit that outputs 140PS and 220Nm. The less powerful of the two mills is available with a 6-speed manual and an 8-step CVT, while the turbo'ed unit is only on sale with a 6-speed torque-converter automatic.
On the other hand, Mahindra XUV700 is also available with petrol and diesel engine options. The 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine produces 200 PS of maximum power and 380 Nm of peak torque and 2.2-litre turbo diesel with CRDi engine delivers 185 PS of maximum power and 450 Nm of peak torque.

MG Astors entry-level variant(Style) stars at Rs 9.78 lakhs (ex-showroom), followed by Super priced at Rs 11.28 lakhs and Rs 12.68 lakhs (ex-showroom), followed by Smart which starts at Rs 12.98 lakhs and goes up to Rs 15.88 lakhs (ex-showroom), and the top of the line Sharp variant which starts at Rs 13.98 lakhs (ex-showroom) and goes up to Rs 16.78 lakhs (ex-showroom) respectively.
