When Jeep launched the updated Compass last year, they removed the Trailhawk from the line-up. However, during one of our drives to Ladakh last year, we happened to spot the updated 4x4 model on test and this is how it looks in real life. While the company is tightlipped on this product, it now seems that the 2022 Jeep Compass Trailhawk launch will take place in the next month or so.
The Trailhawk is a dedicated off-road cousin of the regular Compass. It used to sell alongside the previous Compass in India and came with proper 4x4 hardware to satisfy adventure junkies. What kept it exclusive was the sticker price and unfortunately the same pattern might be seen this time around as well. When launched, the 2022 Jeep Compass Trailhawk will carry an ex-showroom price of over Rs 25 lakh. But that said, if you always wanted a feature loaded, capable premium mid-size SUV, one that can take you places, there isn't any other option in the market.
Like before, the 2022 Jeep Compass Trailhawk will come with a diesel engine only and we feel both automatic and manual gearbox options might be on offer. Visually, the new model looks better than the older one. Updates can be seen up front with a new grille and a revised bumper. Side profile showcases the new alloy wheel design though the rear seems to be identical to the older model. Jeep will surely add in more features including a 360 degree for the 2022 model.
The closest proper 4x4 rival to the Trailhawk will be the current Thar - but that is a 2 door, 4 seater vehicle. Other options like the XUV700 and the Tucson do have an AWD set-up but they are more like soft-roaders than proper 4x4s. What do you think about the new Trailhawk?
