As Mahindra prepares for a facelifted Mahindra XUV300 next year, it gets a bit more exciting than that. There is an EV version called the Mahindra XUV300 EV on the cards as well. This refreshed EV is going to directly challenge the Tata Nexon EV in the space.
While this is the latest piece of information is the evolving Mahindra line-up, let's look at what the upcoming EV is poised to offer.
Mahindra XUV300 EV Debut By June 2024?
The upcoming XUV300 EV is set to receive significant design enhancements, aligning with the XUV300 facelift. These updates will introduce a refreshed and modern appearance, distinguishing it from its predecessor, the XUV400 EV.
Drawing inspiration from the Mahindra bE SUV lineup, the XUV300 EV will showcase a contemporary drop-down LED daytime running lamp, a redesigned bumper, and an updated headlamp assembly. The two-part grille with a larger central air intake contributes to its refreshed front profile. The rear of the vehicle will feature a completely redesigned tailgate with a full-width LED light bar, C-shaped taillamps, and a relocated registration plate on the bumper. The overall aesthetic will exude a smoother and more contemporary look, complemented by new alloy wheel designs tailored to different variants.

Interiors
Internally, the XUV300 EV is poised to undergo subtle modifications, primarily to accommodate a notably larger infotainment screen on the dashboard. Following the trend set by the Nexon EV, the top variant will feature a substantial 12.3-inch screen, while mid-spec variants will incorporate a 10.25-inch display. The repositioning of AC vents and minor adjustments to switchgear and the center console are anticipated to accompany these changes.
However, in terms of cargo capacity, the XUV300 EV will align with the under-four-meter XUV300 facelift, offering around 257 liters of cargo space, in contrast to the larger 378-liter boot of the XUV400 EV. This places the XUV300 EV's cargo capacity below the 350 liters provided by the Nexon EV.
Battery And Range: The Younger Sibling To XUV400
The XUV300 EV is equipped with a 35kWh battery, slightly smaller than the 40kWh battery found in the larger XUV400 EV. Despite the difference in battery size, both SUVs share the same motor configuration with a front-wheel-drive (FWD) setup. However, keep in mind that due to its less chunky battery capacity, the range will also be on the lower side than the current XUV400.
Mahindra XUV300 EV: Price & Launch Timeline
The newly introduced XUV300 EV is slated to occupy a position below the current XUV400 EV in Mahindra's lineup. Priced in the range of Rs 15-17 lakh (ex-showroom), it is expected to feature a price gap of approximately Rs 2 lakh compared to the XUV400, which boasts a larger battery and boot. Anticipated to be officially priced by June this year, the XUV300 facelift, equipped with petrol and diesel engines, is expected to hit the market ahead of the XUV300 EV, likely in February 2024.
Verdict
Mahindra is looking to go all in with its EV line-up which brings it to launch the XUV300 EV despite having the XUV400 that shares similar design cues, albeit with a bigger battery and more boot space. As the XUV300 EV cuts the 400 version by Rs. 2 lakhs although with a compromise with range and boot space, it will open new doors for customers with a little tighter budget.
