While the new Swift may give the impression of being nearly identical in size to its predecessor, it actually boasts a 15mm increase in length, 40mm reduction in width, and a 30mm height increment, with the wheelbase remaining consistent at 2,450mm.
On the interior, the dashboard shares a resemblance with the designs seen in the Baleno and Fronx. However, upon closer examination, distinctive styling nuances confirm that the new Swift comes with its own unique dashboard design. Additionally, common elements such as the floating touchscreen unit, steering wheel, instrument cluster, HVAC controls, and various switch gears are shared with other Maruti Suzuki cars in the country.
Powertrain
The upcoming Swift for the Indian market is set to feature Suzuki's latest Z12 engine, a 1.2-litre petrol unit making its debut. This engine was prominently displayed in the Swift showcased in Japan. In the Indian version, the engine is anticipated to incorporate mild-hybrid technology, with potential variations in power and torque outputs due to differing emissions regulations in the country.
Verdict
Swift has managed to pull in great number for Maruti Suzuki. Right off the bat, it has managed to sell in big numbers and sweat out any competitor in the segment. With this smuch needed update, it is expected to continue its winning streak and also improve upon the exisiting model, which has been around for quite some time now.
