Mercedes-Benz E-Class Sixth-Gen: What are the changes?
The next-gen E-Class was showcased globally the previous year. It was then made clear that it'll be launched in India in 2024. The latest photos of the new model posted online come directly from the Pune-based factory. This indicates that Mercedes has planned a launch soon. The major changes on the new E-Class include a revised design with new dual-barrel LED headlights that the S-Class inspires. Additionally, it'll be sold in its LWB avatar which measures 5,092 mm in length. The new-gen E-Class also gets a revised rear design with new lights and a new bumper.
On the inside, the dashboard now gets a 'Superscreen' with a dual display. A center screen of 14.4 inches is used as an infotainment and control panel while another digital screen present on the passenger side acts as an individual infotainment system. The instrument console is an all-digital 12.2-inch unit that gets multi-modes for views and graphics. The rear seat passengers also get an electric reclining and ottoman seat option.
The powertrain options are likely to include a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and a turbo-diesel. These units will get combined power via a mild-hybrid system for better performance and efficiency. Other mechanical updates include an air suspension and a rear-wheel steering wheel. The new E-Class model can be launched sometime around July-end, with an expected starting price of Rs 80 lakh - Rs 1 crore. Once launched, it'll rival the upcoming BMW 5-Series and the Audi A6.

Verdict
The E-Class has been a star product for Mercedes-Benz in India. It is the best-selling model in its class due to the supreme luxury and brand value. The next-gen E-Class is expected to elevate this panache further by providing better luxurious features. However, the pricing will take a hike and push it into the old S-Class category.
