Nissan has discreetly discontinued the Datsun brand in India. In India, the Datsun brand catered to the entry-level vehicle market with Datsun Go, Go+, and rediGo. The Datsun rediGo is one of the most affordable variants in the country. It comes with a 0.8-litre and 1.0-litre petrol engine, as well as a manual and automatic transmission. The Go and Go+ are based on Nissan's low-cost platform, and received a makeover in 2018 and CVT transmission in 2019.

Customers can still purchase Datsun products via dealerships across the country. Nissan has promised to continue to serve existing Datsun customers with servicing, aftermarket parts, and warranty services. "We can reassure all existing and future Datsun owners that customer satisfaction remains our priority, and we will continue to provide the highest levels of after-sales service, parts availability, and warranty support from our national dealership network," as per a report quoting Nissan's spokesperson.
In January 2014, Nissan reintroduced Datsun in India with the launch of Go, after which it expanded into Indonesia, Russia, and South Africa. It was created to appeal to entry-level purchasers in a variety of markets, but the models sold poorly. Since its reintroduction, the Datsun has manufactured approximately 470,000 units globally.
Nissan's worldwide transformation strategy, in which the Japanese automaker focuses on core models and categories that benefit consumers and dealers the most.
