Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is a very popular and one of the highest-selling sub-compact SUVs in the Indian market. The Vitara Brezza was first launched in March 2016 and it went on to become one of the best-selling SUVs in India. The Vitara Brezza achieved one lakh sales milestone within just 11 months of its launch in February 2017. Now, it's October 2020 and this compact-SUV has managed to achieve another big sales milestone. The company has just revealed that over 5.5 lakh units of the Vitara Brezza have been sold in just 54 months.
The Vitara Brezza was launched for the first time in March 2016 and upon launch, it was a diesel-only car. Initially, it was powered by a Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine. This oil-burner used to churn out 90 PS of power at 4000 RPM and 200 Nm of peak torque at 1750 RPM. It was only mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Also, the Vitara Brezza diesel was the most fuel-efficient compact-SUV in India with a claimed ARAI mileage of 24.3 kmpl. It delivered good fuel-efficiency in real-world conditions too.

However, now it's 2020 and early this year, Vitara Brezza received a facelift and a new BS6-compliant petrol engine. The sub-compact SUV which was earlier a diesel-only car has now become a petrol-only offering. It is now powered by a BS6-compliant 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine that churns out 105 PS of power and 138 Nm of torque. It comes mated to a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque converter automatic transmission. This petrol mill is very refined, offers great fuel-efficiency and superior NVH. The ARAI-rated fuel-efficiency numbers stand at 17.03 kmpl and 18.76 kmpl for MT and AT respectively. It also gets a mid-hybrid system with AT.
Speaking on the success, Mr Shashank Srivastava, Executive Director (Marketing & Sales), Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, "Since its launch, Vitara Brezza has dominated the compact SUV segment. As a trendsetter, it clicked with the passion of the SUV buyer, with its bold design language, powerful performance and sporty character.
