Renault Triber Turbo-Petrol Launch Postponed - Check All Details Here!

The Renault Triber turbo-petrol launch which was supposed to happen this year has been postponed to a later date. As per a recent report online, the turbo variant of the Triber has been scheduled after the launch of the Renault Kiger which is expected to be launched somewhere in 2021. The brand did confirm the launch of the turbo-petrol engine option with the Triber last year when the car was unveiled for the first time. The new turbo-petrol variant is expected to be launched with the existing naturally aspirated 1.0-L petrol engine.

As per the experts, the brand is eyeing to launch the new 1.0-L turbo-petrol engine with a brand-new product - i.e. the Kiger compact SUV. The brand is also wanting, from a marketing standpoint, to position the new engine as the Kiger's unit being offered in the Triber and not vice versa. The Renault Triber turbo-model will be powered by the same 1.0-L engine.

The new 1.0-L turbo petrol engine has been codenamed as HR10 and has been sourced from alliance partner Nissan. It also happens to be a three-cylinder derivative of the 1.3-L HR13 4-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that powers the Renault Duster and Nissan Kicks. The HR10 is expected to produce a peak power output of around 95 hp. The same engine will be used in the upcoming Nissan Magnite.

Ever since the launch, the Renault Triber has been one of the highest-selling models for the brand. The sales figure brought in by the Triber did boost up Renault's market share to 3.2 percent in 2020 when compared to 2.5 percent last year. The Renault Triber is offered as a versatile and VFM product and can be had with a manual as well as an AMT gearbox which comes mated to a 1.0-L naturally aspirated petrol engine. This engine churns out a maximum power output of 72 hp while the peak torque figures stand at 96 Nm.
