Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 Ridden By CS Santosh
As visible in the video, the upcoming Himalayan is being tested on an off-road track by CS Santosh. The off-road track visible in the video looks similar to the professional motocross tracks. In fact, the Himalayan 450 is being ridden like a pro motocross bike by CS Santosh. Mind you, Santosh is a multi-national motocross champion and also Dakar Rally finisher. Hence, the test bike seen is being ridden to its complete limits. While the current Himalayan is also a competent machine off the tarmac; the upcoming model will take the game one step ahead.
As visible, the USD forks and the monoshock adjustable suspension setup seems to be working very fine. Because the bike is airborne over the humps, the suspensions keep it in line even after landing. Additionally, the way it quickly picks up pace indicates that the new 450cc liquid-cooled engine will have good power. Our anticipation is that it takes around 40 bhp of peak power & 45 Nm of peak torque. However, multiple riding modes & switchable ABS options shall make it more fun to ride off-road.
As it is an official video, we suspect that RE is now ready to introduce the new Himalayan to the world. However, look closely at the video, and a test bike is seen with an Arrow exhaust as well. This one might be the Rally variant which shall be launched along with the standard version.
Verdict
The upcoming Himalayan 450 remains the most-awaited bike of 2023. As it is nearing its launch, the new details of it are definitely more exciting. However, upon its launch, it'll compete with the equally competent KTM 390 Adventure. Meanwhile, the pricing will decide the fate of the Himalayan 450 in India. As expected by us, RE shall price it around Rs 2.75 lakh mark (ex-showroom). While its global debut shall take place by September'23; the India launch of it will happen around Diwali festive season.
