Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 Details
As seen in its final phase of road testing, the Shotgun has an appealing design. It is going to use the Super Meteor 650cc platform but it'll get a roadster appeal to it. The ergonomics have been reworked as well as the design elements. For example, the fuel tank is redesigned & the footpegs are center set. Moreover, the handlebar position resembles that of the Classic 350. However, the front design gets an LED headlight with a side cowl. Additionally, it is equipped with USD front suspension & alloy wheels as well. The size of the alloy wheels is still unknown.
RE has used its new taillight design that was first seen on Meteor 350. This LED taillight has been coupled with halogen turn indicators. Another interesting bit to note is the use of new switchgear on it. Meanwhile, the instrument console isn't visible but we suspect it'll be the same as that on the Super Meteor. The rear disc brake size is also looking similar to the one on the SM 650. Hence, we can expect it to be priced a bit premium over the Interceptor 650 & Continental GT 650. Apart from this, it'll use the same 648cc parallel-twin engine as the rest of its siblings.
Verdict
The Shotgun will expand RE's 650cc lineup. However, there is still time for its launch. We're expecting it to debut either by late 2023 or early 2024. Meanwhile, RE will launch an updated Interceptor & Continental GT 650 ahead of it. Also, the RE Himalayan 450 is also expected to debut in the second half of this year.
