Skoda Compact SUV Design, Engine & Launch Timeline
A teaser for the upcoming SUV, which will be built on the MQB-A0-IN platform, which serves as the foundation for Skoda India's already affordable lineup, has already been unveiled. Additionally, the brand has stated that the new SUV will launch sometime in March 2025.
Additionally, Skoda has announced a new contest called Name Your Skoda, in which participants are requested to offer a name for the future SUV, with the requirement that the name begins with either K or Q. Additionally, the brand has disclosed a few possible names, including Kylaq, Kariq, Kymaq, Kyroq, and Kwiq.
The brand intends to target tier 2 and tier 3 cities with this compact SUV, and the future SUV will have its own assembly line. This SUV will assist the company in reaching a wider audience. The majority of the parts needed to assemble this SUV will be locally sourced. The vehicle's compact size will also assist the brand in lowering the excise tax. The brand added that the SUV will have a 5-star rating.
The new SUV will stand out from the crowd because of its unique and stylish appearance. It will have a big air dam up front, a slim LED DRL, and a strong, pointed bonnet reminiscent of the Kushaq. The new elements will be incorporated into the brand's 'Modern Solid' design language.

Skoda Compact SUV Engine
The upcoming SUV is expected to adopt the 1.0-liter turbo petrol engine, renowned for its refinement and performance, similar to the one powering the Kushaq and Slavia models. Currently generating 114 bhp of power and 178 Nm of peak torque, the engine may undergo slight adjustments to align with the vehicle's characteristics. Additionally, it will be available with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
Verdict
For the Indian market, the new Skoda sub-4-meter SUV looks potential. At the moment, Skoda does not offer any products under Rs 10 lakh, and its range is too expensive for some people, particularly in tier 2 and tier 3 towns. The brand will have access to a wider range of potential customers with the introduction of a sub-4 meter SUV. The next SUV will go up against the Hyundai Venue, KIA Sonet, Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, and other rival models.
