Skoda Auto India is aggressively heading towards its expansion strategy in India. The brand officially announced the name of its new sub-4 metre SUV this week in the country. Yes, I'm talking about the Skoda Kylaq which will be based on the MQB-AO-IN platform. The sub-4 metre SUV has been recently spotted on test again, hinting at the close launch. The upcoming SUV will takes its place in the crowded sub-4 metre SUV segment in India, rivalling some major names such as the Maruti Brezza, Tata Nexon, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite and others. Taking a look at the recent spy shots, we can easily decode that the Kylaq SUV will feature a single-pane electric sunroof.
Skoda Kylaq Design
The Skoda Kylaq spy shots suggest that there will be a red paint scheme on offer with the SUV. Additionally, it will feature a clear lens setup for the taillight setup. The Kylaq SUV will get a shark-fin antenna, roof rails, slightly raked C-pillars and a tailgate mounted number plate holder as well. The series of teasers released by the brand so far has confirmed that the SUV will feature a split headlamp, inverted L-shaped LED tail lights and new LED DRLs.
Skoda Kylaq Powertrain
As mentioned above, the Kylaq SUV will be based on the same platform as the Slavia and Kushaq. We are expecting the SUV to come powered by a 1.0-litre three-cylinder, TSI unit which is capable of generating 114 bhp of power and 178 Nm of torque. The SUV will be arriving with a front wheel drive configuration. For transmission duties, we can expect a six-speed manual and a torque converter automatic unit.
