The much-awaited premium hatchback from Tata Motors, Altroz, will see its launch on January 22, 2020. Tata Altroz competes with the likes of Hyundai Elite i20, Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Honda Jazz, Volkswagen Polo and Toyota Glanza.
At its launch, Tata Altroz will be launched with both petrol and diesel engines. It will be the first hatch in its segment to get BS6 compliant engines from both ends. The 1.2-litre, naturally aspirated petrol motor is the same as Tiago's. It produces 86 bhp on tap with a peak torque of 113 Nm.
The diesel engine is a derivative from the compact SUV, Tata Nexon and houses a 1.5L oil burner. This engine is tuned to produce 90 bhp from 108 bhp. Peak torque sticks to 200 Nm. Both the engines get mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and as of now, Tata will not be offering any automatic gearbox.

Tata has confirmed on the fact that a more powerful, 1.2-litre turbo petrol will join the Altroz soon. And the naturally aspirated 1.2L petrol engine might get dual-clutch automatic transmission at its end.
Some of the unique features of the Tata Altroz includes a fully digital instrumental console. It gets a flat-bottomed steering wheel and a large 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with connectivity features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Cruise control, Push button start/stop, automatic climate control, projector headlights and more are some of its features.

The bookings for the Tata Altroz have already begun at a price of Rs 21,000. As of now, there is not even a hint of the prices but we expect it to be between Rs 5 lakh to Rs 8 lakh so it keeps up with the competition.
