Tata Altroz Racer Bookings Officially Open: Features & Variants Leaked Ahead Of Launch
The soon-to-launch Tata Altroz Racer is now being officially booked by the brand and is expected to launch next week. With multiple spy shots revealing key details, the last nail was the leaked brochure, giving everything away that this model has to offer. Spread across 3 variants, R1, R2, and R3, it is a brimmed-up affair. The Altroz Racer R1 variant ups the ante compared to the standard Altrozs top XZ+ trim, boasting additional features like four extra airbags, a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen, and a more aggressive exhaust.
The mid-spec R2 variant boasts a much nicer suite of amenities including a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, powered sunroof, wireless charging, 360-degree camera, and blind spot monitor. Going further, the R3 variant introduces Tatas connected car technology, ventilated front seats, and an air purifier. Notably, the Altroz Racer leads the pack with exclusive offerings like cooled seats and a 360-degree camera with blind spot monitoring, all of these being segment-firsts.
Powertrain: The Top Game
Surpassing even the iTurbo variants of the regular Tata Altroz variants, the Altroz Racer comes out as the most potent Altroz till date. You can look forward to choosing between a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed DCA, which comes directly from the Nexon lineup. These transmission options will be matched with the 1.2-liter turbo petrol engine, expected to generate 120hp of power and a peak torque of 170 Nm. In contrast, the current gearbox lineup offers a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed DCT paired with a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine, delivering figures of 110 PS and 140 Nm, respectively.

Expected Launch And Price
As Tata elevates the Altroz's offerings, it's highly probable that a premium will come along with it. We anticipate this to commence around the Rs. 10 lakh mark. Positioned to compete with the sportier Hyundai i20 N-Line and specific trims of the Maruti Fronx Boosterjet featuring a 1.0-liter turbo petrol engine, the Altroz aims to assert its presence in this segment.

Verdict
The Tata Altroz Racer, with more tricks up its sleeves, will chec the authority of Hyundai i20 N-line when launched. While the segment is still very niche, obviously with the bigger, the better trend when it comes to pricing to segment ratio, the performance hatchback segment is slowly gaining traction.
