Tata will launch the all-new Altroz in the Indian market on 22nd January. The first-ever premium hatchback from the manufacturer will have a competitive price and may get the most affordable price tag in the segment. Tata will currently offer two engine options with the Altroz, but there are plans to launch a more powerful version of the car.
Tata will initially power the Altroz with two engine options. There will be a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that generates a maximum power of 85 PS at 6,000 rpm and 113 Nm of peak torque at 3,300 rpm. The diesel variants will be powered by the 1.5-litre, turbocharged diesel engine that generates a maximum power of 89 Bhp and peak torque of 200 Nm. Both the engine get the 5-speed manual transmission, and there will be no automatic transmission at the time of the launch.
As per Team-BHP, Tata Motors is now planning to launch the 110 Bhp version of the Altroz in the Indian market in the coming time. Depending on the response received by the Altroz, Tata is expected to launch the more powerful version of the Altroz, that will get powered by the same 1.5-litre diesel engine, but it will produce more power. Tata offers the same 1.5-litre diesel engine with the Nexon too.
Tata may launch the JTP version of the Altroz in the coming times. The exact features and power figures of the Altroz JTP will surface later this year. However, just like the Tata Tiago JTP and the Tata Tigor JTP, the Altroz is expected to get new sporty features. The Altroz JTP will get new bumpers, new alloy wheels and a few changes to the cabin.
The Altroz will take on the likes of Hyundai Elite i20 and the Maruti Suzuki Baleno in the Indian market. However, Altroz offers a lot of features that are first-in-segment. The Altroz will also get launched in the EV avatar next year.
Later this year, Tata will launch the all-new Nexon EV, Tata Gravitas and may showcase upcoming products like the Hornbill.
