Tata Avinya - A New Premium EV Brand?
In a recent media interaction, Vivek Srivastva, Chief Commercial Officer of Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, said that Avinya is not a model name but it is a completely new brand identity. This brand will incorporate the new EVs including multiple body styles. Ranging from SUVs to MPVs, the Avinya brand will share its underpinning with the upcoming JLR EVs. The Avinya brand will sit down on the top of the Tata product spectrum.
Tata has recently acquired space in Tamil Nadu for setting up a JLR EV manufacturing facility. This production house will also be used to manufacture the Avinya range models. As per the published report, the EMA platform will be used by JLR for EVs and will also be shared with Tata to develop the Avinya EV models. However, the Avinya EVs will have a tweaked version of this platform to maintain a separate brand identity.
The EMA platform is going to be used on the next-gen Velar, Discovery Sport, and Evoque SUVs. This architecture is capable of Level 2+ autonomous safety assist systems. Additionally, for the EVs, this platform can provide ultrafast charging and over-the-air updates as well.

Verdict
Tata's EV products have turned out to be a huge success in the passenger vehicle category. Tata has already separated its EV brand from the ICE models. The Avinya brand will mark the begining of premium Tata cars that will compete against the big German luxury brands in the forthcoming future.
