On August 15, Mahindra plans to debut its Born Electric SUVs to break into the global electric SUV market. Along with that, a new electric SUV named the XUV 400 electric is also being tested by Mahindra. Previously, the brand displayed the XUV 300 electric at Auto Expo 2020; however, to distinguish the new SUV from the standard XUV 300, the brand will now call it the XUV 400 electric. The XUV 400 Electric is expected to arrive in 2023, and new spy images of the SUV have recently appeared online.

Mahindra XUV 400 Electric
The XUV 400 electric will have certain characteristics that make it apart from the XUV 300. Mahindra will maintain the Mahindra XUV 400 electric's size at about 4.2 metres, giving the extra room for improved comfort. The extended size will also help in additional boot space. Additionally, it will differ from its ICE-powered sibling in terms of bumpers and other minor design elements.
Regarding the appearance, it will resemble the XUV 300 in terms of overall design but will have a closed grille, a small air dam, and a tweaked bumper on the front fascia. The rear will also get little modification to differentiate it from its ICE siblings. Additionally, the company has earlier stated that this would be the first automobile to be built using Mahindra Electric's Scalable and Modular Architecture (MESMA). Even so, the interior will resemble the XUV 300, Mahindra might include the AdrenoX System to improve its feature set.

The long-range variant is anticipated to be able to go more than 375 km on a single charge. Upon the launch it will compete with the Tata Nexon EV and MG ZS EV.
