Tata Motors is gearing up for the launch of its fourth CNG vehicle, the Punch CNG, scheduled for tomorrow. The brand has recently teased a new poster on its social media platforms, featuring the Tata Punch CNG at the center, with the caption 'Ready to make you go OMG!' highlighting their twin-cylinder iCNG range that is set to debut. Tata Punch CNG
The upcoming Punch CNG will adopt the twin-cylinder technology already seen in the Altroz CNG. It will come equipped with two 30-litre CNG cylinders, providing a combined CNG capacity of 60 litres. The spare wheel will be placed underneath the car. Apart from these updates, the Punch CNG will retain a similar design and features as its petrol counterpart.
In terms of features, the Punch CNG will boast identical LED DRLs, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, 4 speakers, 2 tweeters, connected car technology, automatic climate control, and 16-inch alloy wheels, among other amenities. Notably, the new addition to the feature list will be the inclusion of a sunroof.
The Punch CNG will be available in a range of variants, including Pure, Adventure, Adventure Rhythm, Accomplish, and Accomplish Dazzle, ensuring it caters to all preferences. As for the sunroof feature, it will be exclusive to the Accomplish Dazzle variant.

Tata Punch CNG - Powertrain & Safety
The Punch i-CNG will be powered by the same 1.2-liter CNG engine, delivering a peak power of 77 bhp and 90 Nm of torque, mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The vehicle's ECU will be reprogrammed to facilitate smooth starting in CNG mode and seamless transition between petrol and CNG modes. Moreover, it will come equipped with thermal incident protection, leak detection, and fire protection features.
Verdict
The upcoming Punch CNG will directly compete with the Hyundai Exter CNG, with the main competition revolving around pricing. Tata may strive to keep the price competitive to effectively rival the Exter CNG. However, the pricing is expected to be Rs 90,000 to 1 lakh higher than the regular variants.
