The recently sighted test mule was entirely concealed in camouflage, offering a sneak peek at certain components. The LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) on the test mule were discernible, bearing a resemblance to those found on the recently launched Nexon EV. The front end is expected to feature a redesigned grille, LED DRLs inspired by the Nexon, complete with integrated turn indicators, and a modified bumper. While the side profile is largely unchanged, there's an expectation of a new alloy wheel design. Additionally, the rear end could undergo an upgrade with the addition of a new LED tail lamp bar, aligning with recent model releases.

On the interior front, it was previously observed with an automatic Inside Rear View Mirror (IRVM) and a novel 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. There is a likelihood that it will incorporate certain features from the recently unveiled Nexon EV. Anticipated features like a new HVAC control unit, a digital instrument cluster, a larger infotainment screen, wireless connectivity, and more. Concerning safety, it is expected to integrate features such as six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), a rear parking camera with sensors, and Anti-lock Braking System with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (ABS with EBD), among other safety measures.

Upcoming Tata Punch EV Powertrain

Details about the powertrain are presently undisclosed; however, it is anticipated that the Punch EV will be available in both a Medium Range version equipped with a 26kWh battery pack and a Long Range variant featuring a 30 kWh battery pack. The vehicle will incorporate the ZipTron powertrain, with the Medium Range version likely adopting the same powertrain as the Tigor EV, while the Long Range variant may utilize the powertrain found in the base variant of the Nexon EV. As for the range, expectations suggest that the long-range variant will provide an estimated distance of approximately 315-320 km.

Verdict

The Tata Punch EV is expected to make its debut in 2024, marking the fourth addition to the brand's electric vehicle lineup. In this segment, it will contend with competition from the Citroen eC3. The anticipated starting price is in the range of Rs 10-12 lakh (Ex-showroom).
