Tata Punch EV - New Design, More Features, Better Range
As seen in the spy shots, the electric model will look similar to the current Punch SUV. But, there will be subtle design changes to make it look like an EV. The front design seems to have undergone slight changes. There is a long connecting LED light bar on the nose of the car. We saw a similar design on the new Nexon EV as well. Additionally, there will be minor aerodynamic changes to the front bumper for better range and performance.
Meanwhile, the alloy wheels on the side profile shall be redesigned with a different colour tone. The rear profile looks unchanged to a large extent but we suspect that the LED taillights might get a slight revision. On the inside, we anticipate that there will be very few changes to the design. But, Tata might offer better features like a new digital instrument display and a bigger infotainment screen.
The powertrain of the Punch EV is still unknown. Some online reports suggest that it'll get the same battery as the Tata Tigor EV but in a higher state of tune for better performance. We can expect a driving range of 300330 km via this setup.
Verdict
Tata Punch is one of the best selling models for the brand. Its safe build quality along with a spacious cabin is loved by the customers. However, the electric version will be able to attract more premium buyers that want a bigger EV than the Tigor. Tata will expectedly launch it by the first half of next year. We expect its pricing to be in the range of Rs 9.50 lakh to Rs 12.50 lakh (ex-showroom).
