1. Features: Punch EV 'Punches' Above Its Weight
The Punch EV introduces a range of features and attributes that are not commonly found in sub-4m and compact SUVs even today. These include ventilated front seats, auto-dimming IRVM, rear disc brakes, LED fog lights with cornering function, a fully digital and configurable 10.2-inch instrument cluster, LED projector headlights, electronic parking brake, 360-degree camera, TPMS, wireless Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay, premium upholstery, and more.

2. Price: If On A Budget, Then....
Since the segments are different, so are their entry price points as well. While cross-segment shopping is nothing new when prices are similar, this is a clear-cut case. If you're shopping on a budget, then the Tata Tiago is the best option to go for. While the Tiago EV begins its range at Rs. 8.69 lakhs, the Tata Punch EV will set you back by Rs. 11 lakhs ex-showroom. When going for a vehicle good enough for your daily city runs that is lighter on your pocket as well, you have your answer.
3. Range Anxeity? This Is The Choice For You
With an electric vehicle comes range anxiety. While this is something related to the use case basis, a longer range ultimately means a more practical car. If you have a range filter and not very much pressing on the price point, close your eyes and pick the Punch EV. With its long-range model, you get a claimed range of up to 421 km. This is miles better (literally!) than the Tiago EV which offers a claimed range of 315 km. The Punch offers more than 100 km of extra range, which is a significant upgrade over the hatch.
There you have it! We have broadly categorized the selection into 3 categories- Price, Features, and Range. While no car is perfect in absolute terms, ironically, any car that fits your needs actually is. Now the onus lies on you, filter out the parameters suiting you the best, and go on with your electric journey.
Verdict
While you may argue for comparing apples to apples, car shopping is an emotional as well as a big financial decision that mostly stays with you for a good part of your life. If you have the flexibility of compromising on some elements and stretch yourself a bit, then it is always better to go for an informed and well-thought out decision.
