At the FY23 results press meet, Mahindra disclosed the booking numbers and waiting periods of some of the cars from its lineup. One of which happens to be the Mahindra XUV400. The electric version of the already popular XUV300, since its launch, has amassed over 23,000 bookings. But the delivered number stands at just 4,000 units.

Mahindra XUV400 Waiting Period
Since its launch in January 2023, bookings were open at that very point. With deliveries starting in May, 4,000 units have been sent to the respective owners, which accounts for just 18% of the total order book. Given its ever-mounting demand, you will have to wait up to 6 months if you book it today. Mahindra is commencing the deliveries of the top-spec long-range EL variants first, while the base-spec EC trim dispatches will start from the festive season of Diwali.
This is still a decent time when you compare it with the Mahindra Thar, that in some cases, is touching the 18-month mark already. Although waiting times should be a lot less, this is still borderline reasonable.

The Mahindra XUV400 comes with 2 battery pack options- 34.5 kW and 39.4 kW options with a claimed range of 375 km and 456 km range respectively. It comes with a single electric motor that churns out 150PS power and 310Nm of torque. It also claims the tag of having the fastest acceleration in the non-luxury SUV segment with a claimed 0-100 km/h in mere 8.3 seconds.
Coming to the price, it ranges from Rs 15.99 lakh to Rs 18.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
VERDICT- Since its launch, the XUV400 already had the cosmetic genetics of the lovely XUV300 that had a fanbase of its own. The craze is evident in the booking numbers as well. While 6 months is a long time, on comparisons with some other current favorites, it seems just shy of being unreasonable.
