Toyota India appears to be considering the introduction of a new MPV to the Indian market. There are reports suggesting that the brand might soon unveil the Rumion MPV, which is essentially a rebadged version of the Maruti Ertiga in India. Exterior

In order to distinguish it from the Ertiga, Toyota will make exterior changes to the Rumion. The Rumion is already available in the international market, featuring a distinct front profile with a big front grille surrounded by chrome and inspired by the Innova Crysta, along with redesigned bumpers and fog lamp assembly. The sides of the Rumion features a unique swirl-type 15-inch alloy wheels, setting it apart from the Ertiga. At the rear, the Rumion boasts redesigned bumpers for a refreshed look.

Interior & Features

The interior of the Rumion is likely to receive a fresh color treatment for the dashboard, door pads, and seat upholstery to make it dfferent from already on sale Maruti Ertiga. We can expect to see similar features as offered in the Ertiga. The feature set is expected to include a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, push-button start, all four power windows, steering-mounted controls, cruise control, electrically adjustable and foldable outside rear-view mirrors (ORVMs), along with various other features.

Safety

Regarding safety, the Rumion available in the international market comes equipped with dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, vehicle stability control, hill assist control, ELR seatbelts, and ISOFIX child seat mounts, among other features. For the Indian market, Toyota may enhance the safety features by adding more airbags to comply with regulations. Additionally, they might include seat belt reminders for all seats and ELR seatbelts for all seats to further improve safety standards.

Engine Specifications

The Rumion is equipped with a 1.5-liter NA petrol engine generating 103.2 bhp of power and 138 Nm of peak torque. This engine is paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic gearbox. It is the same powertrain offered in the Ertiga in India; however, the Ertiga also comes with a CNG powertrain option. Upon its launch in India, Toyota may consider adding the CNG powertrain to the Rumion as well, aiming to attract a wider customer base with the additional eco-friendly option.
