High On Saftey

This D-segment SUV will be based on the acclaimed MQB platform, which is also the platform of the Skoda Superb and Volkswagen Tiguan. Additionally, in Euro NCAP and Australasian NCAP, this SUV has scored a perfect 5 stars, so without a doubt, the Kodiaq is built on a robust platform, and customers' desire for a safe car is well addressed. To add more, it will now come with Level 2 ADAS features, which were missing earlier, taking the safety quotient to the next level. Although we don't know exactly how many ADAS features it will have, we anticipate it to be nothing less than 25. Lastly, it will be a camera and radar-based system, as visible from its front end.
Power Packed With Features

This SUV will cost above Rs 50 lakh on-road, so it's not surprising that it will be a feature-packed, but still, let me unravel all the details. First of all, the infotainment screen is 13 inches, and the digital driver cockpit is 10.25 inches. Beneath the screen is an all-new central console with hexagon-shaped AC vents, and below, Skoda has added three dials for the auto AC, which will be dual-zone.

The wireless charging pad is spacious and can charge two smartphones at once. Moving on to the seats, they are upholstered in leather, with the front ones being fully electrically adjustable. The driver's seat also gets a 3-memory seat function. Additionally, a panoramic sunroof is included. For the second row, automatic AC is provided. When the third-row seats are folded, the total boot space is 910 L, and if you fold down the second row, it expands to 2035 L, taking the practicality factor to new heights.

Performance

The engine specs will remain the same - a 2.0L TSI petrol engine producing 190 PS and 320 Nm of torque, with only one gearbox option: a 7-speed DSG. In India, it will come in two variants - Sportline and L&K. The Sportline will feature a more athletic appearance, while the L&K will cater to those who want the Kodiaq in its most luxurious form. Additionally, both variants are most likely to come with an AWD setup, as it is standard even on the current-gen model. Expected starting price is Rs 42 lakh and will go up to Rs 48 lakh ex-showroom.
Verdict
We at 91Wheels covered the upcoming Skoda Kodiaq at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 and were left amazed. It looked like a massive upgrade from the outgoing model, and the interior felt solid and modern. As we gear up for its launch, it will be interesting to see what new details Skoda will present and whether it will receive a blockbuster response from both the audience and auto experts, just like the Kylaq recieved.
