Toyota Innova Hycross Design & Features
Revealed in the leaked brochure photos, the Hycross looks like a mix of Innova Crysta & Fortuner. It has got the stance of an SUV and the length of an MPV. However, the design is not very radical as was expected. It looks more like an evolution of the Innova Crysta. The front gets a new big grille with dual-barrel headlights. Additionally, the front bumper has also been revised with big air dams and LED DRLs. The interiors of the MPV also reveal the big changes. It gets a completely new steering wheel, a semi-digital instrument panel, and soft-touch leather inserts all over the cabin. Additionally, a big touchscreen infotainment display is supported by a waterfall layout center console.
The gear shift lever has been embedded with the dashboard for improved ergonomics. The leaked photos also show the rear captain seats will get a separate entertainment package. The rear entertainment screens might be offered as an optional accessory. The overall space inside the cabin has increased exponentially. The rear seat space looks enormous. It is expected that the Hycross is aimed at chauffer-driven customers with low running. However, the spacious cabin will help the passengers on long trips as well as on short commutes.
Toyota Innova Hycross Fuel Economy Details
The main talking point about the Hycross is its powertrain. Why? It is because Toyota has equipped it with a petrol-hybrid engine only. This means that Hycross will not be available with a diesel engine option. However, the M20A FXS hybrid system will help deliver amazing fuel economy figures. As suggested by the reports online, it will be able to deliver 20-23 kmpl. Now, this is a huge number considering the size of Hycross. Toyota has used a new monocoque chassis for it with an FWD system. This has led to an increment in the length of the MPV. Hence, delivering such fuel economy is going to be a deal-maker for the buyers.
Additionally, the petrol motor is going to be a 2.0-lt engine. It is a naturally aspirated motor sourced from the global Corolla Altis sedan. Paired with a hybrid powertrain, the power output shall remain between 175-185 bhp. However, the MPV will be available with a manual as well as an automatic gearbox option. Additionally, the monocoque chassis means it will have more plaint ride & comfort to offer. Toyota is also going to fit a big panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, ambient lighting, etc., to make the cabin experience amazing. The company has already been teasing the highlights of the Hycross on its social media handles.
