Wanting to buy the Triumph Scrambler 400 X, but not too keen on alloy rims? The bikemaker is gearing up to fulfill your wishes. Some of our friends overseas have caught test mules of the Scrambler 400 X and the upcoming faired 400ccc motorcycle. This suggests that Triumph is looking to further expand its entry-level lineup.
Interestingly, this test mule of the Scrambler 400 X comes with spoke rims, while the faired 400 has also been spotted many times now. Before we dive into the finer details, make sure to join the 91wheels WhatsApp Community to keep up with the latest news and automotive updates!

Triumph Scrambler 400 X With Spoke Rims

The Scrambler 400 X, along with the Speed 400, has been among the best-sellers for Triumph globally in recent times. As of now, the Scrambler 400 X is available only with alloy rims, and it is likely that Triumph could add a new variant, which could possibly be named Scrambler 400 XE, taking inspiration from the bikemaker's global lineup of big bikes.

This test mule was spotted with cross-spoke wheels, adding the possibility of tubeless tyres. However, the 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel setup will be retained. It also gets a small beak, a small windscreen above the headlight, and a newer engine guard.
In terms of changes, the upcoming Scrambler 400 X with spoke rims could possibly come with even higher suspension travel. For those who do not know, the current Scrambler 400 X comes with 150mm of travel on both ends from the 43mm USD big-piston forks and a gas-charged monoshock with pre-load adjustability.

The rest of the motorcycle will likely carry over the same mechanical parts, featuring the same 398cc, liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine, producing 39.5bhp at 8000rpm and 37.5Nm of torque at 6500rpm, paired to a 6-speed gearbox. It will also continue with the same ByBre braking equipment.

Upcoming Triumph Faired 400 Motorcycle

The second motorcycle spotted by our friends overseas is the faired equivalent of the Speed 400, which has also been on Indian roads many times by now. On the design front, the half-fairing seems to draw inspiration heavily from the Speed 1200 RR (something the author wishes to ride ASAP!), while it will also feature clip-on handlebars and slightly rear-set footpegs for the committed riding stance.
It will also feature a mildly redesigned fuel tank, along with a slightly different tail-section. However, like most of the TR Series 400 lineup, the upcoming faired 400 motorcycle will also continue with the same 398cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine, along with the same mechanical parts.

As for what it will be called, numerous reports suggest that Triumph could use the Thruxton tag. However, the Thruxton cafe racer was recently discontinued from the global lineup. Therefore, the name of the motorcycle remains under very tight wraps for now.
We can expect either of these motorcycles, or possibly both to be launched sometime later this year or by early next year. The faired 400 could slot in between the Speed 400 and the Scrambler 400 X, and the spoke-rim variant of the Scrambler 400 X could command a slight premium over the regular bike's Rs 2.64 lakh (ex-showroom).

Verdict
The TR Series 400 platform has been a huge success for Triumph, and Bajaj has clearly mastered the art of bringing premium brands at an affordable price range. The upcoming two motorcycles should further help Triumph cater to an audience base with specific needs.
