In the international variants of the City Hybrid, Honda's i-MMD hybrid technology, which combines an internal combustion engine with two electric motors, is featured. It sports a 1.5-litre four-cylinder Atkinson Cycle NA petrol engine with 98hp and 127Nm peak torque.
The petrol engine is paired with two electric motors, one of which acts as a starter-generator and provides assistance to the petrol engine. Meanwhile, the front wheels are driven by a special gearbox with a single fixed-gear ratio and a second electric engine with 109 bhp and 253 Nm of torque. It will most likely be equipped with a single CVT automatic transmission.

The new City hybrid will feature three driving modes: pure electric, petrol-only, and hybrid (combination of electric & petrol engine). The car will have the best fuel economy in hybrid mode. The electric generator and motor are integrated and connected to the engine's output shaft. The engine drives the electric motor, which rotates the wheels and provides electricity to the lithium ion battery in the boot.
The interior features and design should be comparable to that of India's current 5th generation city. The City Hybrid will have all the features, including an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment display with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Amazon Alexa remote control, ambient lighting, and connected car technology, since it is based on the sedan's top-spec variant.
