Hyundai Creta EV: Production Kicks-off Towards End Of 2024
The highly anticipated Hyundai Creta EV, already spotted in pre-facelift guise earlier, has recently been captured undergoing testing in its facelifted form. These sightings offer glimpses of the electric Creta's design, expected to closely resemble the facelifted model with some EV-specific modifications. One such tweak might be the placement of the charging port at the front grille, as seen in earlier spy shots where the car was docked at a charging station.
The latest spy shot spree confirms the earlier speculated updates. The side profile sits in complete harmony with the Creta silhouette. The electric Creta appears to be adopting design elements to optimize efficiency. Spy shots reveal unique wheels with an aerodynamic design, likely intended to reduce drag and potentially improve range.
Following the conventions of electric vehicles, the front grille is expected to be closed, potentially incorporating EV badging on both the front and rear for a distinct identity. The absence of a combustion engine in the electric Creta creates a space that could be repurposed as a "frunk" a front trunk offering valuable extra storage. In terms of interior and features, the Hyundai Creta EV will be sharing its cabin and loadings with the ICE variant with a little tweak.
Expect a new upholstery, along with features like a fully digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, ADAS, a 360-degree camera, dual-zome auto ac, front-row ventilated seats, wireless Android Auto/ Apple CarPlay, and more. Additionally, the instrument console will display essential battery and range statistics.

Battery And Range
The Hyundai Creta EV is expected to come in multiple variants, with rumors suggesting a potential extended range exceeding 500 kilometers on a single charge. Previous reports hinted at a base variant equipped with a 45 kWh battery offering a range of around 250-300 km. This suggests a larger battery pack, possibly around 55-60 kWh, might be offered in the long-range variant.
When launched, it will face tough heat from the likes of Tata Nexon EV, MG ZS EV, Mahindra XUV400 EV, and others in the segment.
Verdict
The Hyundai Creta EV is probably the one offering that holds the ability to attract a large chunk of potential buyers. Having the legacy of thre Creta moniker, the brand will also aim to make it a standout vehicle in its class, justifying its hype efficiently.
