Kia Motors is planning to roll out a compact SUV with an electric powertrain for a country like India. As per the reports, the enterprise has kick-started the project with the code name AY and is expected this SUV to rule the Indian roads by the year 2025. This SUV would be developed on a brand new compact SUV platform so as to inculcate different powertrains with the same chassis in their portfolio. They plan on making this new platform flexible to such an expectation that they can either plonk in an internal combustion engine or run it on some battery juice.
Hyundai, Kia's sister brand, had already released the Hyundai Kona in its powertrain and is the only electric vehicle on offer in India. However, it wasn't able to see much success, but Kia is all set to release the iconic EV6 in the Indian homelands.
