Skoda is getting ready to launch a new model in India, and glimpses of the upcoming compact SUV have been caught on camera from time to time. Skoda Compact SUV: What To Expect?
In February 2024, Skoda announced its entry into the compact SUV market, aiming at the sub-4m segment. They confirmed that the new SUV would be based on the MQB A0-IN platform. Newly captured images reveal familiar features such as the slated grille, twin-pod LED headlamps, large ORVMs with turn indicators, a clamshell bonnet with the Skoda logo, sculpted lower bumper, a large honeycomb-patterned lower grill, and alloy wheels. It will be placed beneath the Kushaq. To better fit into the sub-4m segment, some changes will be made to the dimensions of this upcoming SUV.

Skoda Compact SUV: Feature Details
The interior of the new model is expected to be packed with features. It's anticipated to closely resemble the Kushaq's interior, featuring a fully digital TFT instrument cluster, along with a larger infotainment screen, wireless charger, speakers, 360-degree camera, electronic stability control (ESC), a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and more. There's also talk that it will come with an ADAS suite.
As for its name, Skoda has narrowed down the options to ten choices: Kayaq, Kymaq, Kliq, Kylaq, Kwiq, Kariq, Kyroq, Kosmiq, Kaiq, and Karmiq. It remains to be seen which name will finally be confirmed.
Skoda Compact SUV: Engine And Price Expectation
Skoda's upcoming compact SUV, set to launch in March 2025, will come equipped with a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, boasting 115hp and 178Nm of torque. It will come paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. With an expected price range of Rs 8 lakh to 13.50 lakh (ex-showroom), it's sure to attract attention worldwide.
It is expected to rival the upcoming Mahindra 3XO, Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, and more.
