Tata Motors appears fully prepared to introduce another CNG vehicle, the Punch CNG, into the market. The automaker has already showcased the vehicle at the Auto Expo motor show. Now, it seems that the brand is poised for the official launch, as recent updates about the car have surfaced on the internet. We previously reported that production of the Tata Punch CNG has commenced, and a new report has now disclosed the different variants that will be available for the upcoming model.

Tata Punch CNG Variants
Prior to its launch, details about the variants of the Tata Punch CNG have surfaced online. A leaked factory billing document has provided information about the different variants of the Punch CNG, which will retain the names of the regular variants. The Punch CNG will be offered in Pure, Adventure, Adventure Rhythm, Accomplish, and Accomplish Dazzle variants, indicating that it will be available in all options. Regarding the sunroof feature, only the Accomplish Dazzle variant will come equipped with this feature.
The sunroof feature will be available in Accomplish Dazzle and all variants above the, regardless of whether they have the 1.2-litre petrol or CNG powertrain options. This approach is consistent with what the brand has done with the Altroz model.
Among the additional features, the car will boast a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with support for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It will also include automatic climate control, steering-mounted controls, 16-inch alloy wheels, dual-front airbags, seatbelt reminders for all five seats, ABS with EBD, as well as various other convenience and safety features.

Tata Punch i-CNG
The Punch i-CNG will share the twin-cylinder technology found in the Altroz i-CNG model. It will be equipped with dual-CNG cylinders, each having a capacity of 30 liters. The vehicle's ECU will be reprogrammed to facilitate starting the engine in CNG mode and seamlessly switching between petrol and CNG modes. Similar to the Altroz CNG, the upcoming CNG variant will be powered by the same 1.2-liter CNG engine, delivering a peak power of 73.5 PS and paired with a 5-speed gearbox.
Verdict
As of now, the Hyundai Exter stands as the sole micro-SUV in India with a CNG powertrain option. However, the upcoming Tata Punch CNG will serve as a formidable competitor to the Exter CNG. In terms of pricing, it is anticipated that the Punch CNG will be priced approximately Rs 90,000 to 1 lakh higher than its regular 1.2-liter petrol engine counterparts.
